Seems like summer has hardly begun, but kids (and parents!) are already thinking about school starting in just over a month.  Many children in our community will start school without the tools and supplies necessary to succeed.  Again this year, the DSS Community Resources Office will co-sponsor the "School Tools" Back to School Campaign along with Communities in Schools and WSOC. 

Collection Dates: July 15th-August 15th, 2003

Supplies Needed:  Our greatest need is for sturdy BACKPACKS.   We greatly appreciate donations of ALL types of school supplies, especially the following:
· Three-ring binders (all sizes)
· Writing tablets (for grades K-2)
· Alarm clocks
· Regular and scientific calculators

Please contact our office if you are interested in holding a Back-to-School drive - Geri Walton at 704-336-4809.  You may also make a monetary contribution to purchase school supplies.  Checks can be made payable to Mecklenburg County. Thanks on behalf of the children!
