Training Available to Residents of Mecklenburg and Surrounding Counties

Charlotte, NC - Finding a job in the current economy is challenging enough.  But it's tougher for a job seeker who has been out of the work force for a while.  That's where the Mecklenburg County Women's Commission can help, by offering free training in job search skills, leadership, communication, and even specialized training for a job in a call center.

To register for one of the following training sessions or for more information about free career training offered by the Mecklenburg County Women's Commission, call 704-336-4309. 

  • New Choices…Strategies for Success: Resume' writing, job search, interviewing, time management, etc. May 5 - 16, 2003, 9 a.m. - Noon.
  • Adventures in Attitudes: Focuses on self-esteem, leadership, decision-making, communication etc. May 19 - 22, 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
  • Customer Service Training: Develop the skills for an entry-level position in one of the 50 call centers in our area.  Learn how to work more effectively with all customers.  Dates TBA.

The training is available to all residents of Mecklenburg County and the surrounding area who qualify as "displaced homemakers." That includes single mothers or women who find they lack adequate job skills after a divorce or other circumstances.  Men are also welcome to attend the training, but they must qualify as displaced homemakers.

All Mecklenburg County residents are also invited to take advantage of the Women's Commission Job Bank, a job search Web site available at  For those without Internet access, the Job Bank is available at the Hal Marshall County Services Center, 700 North Tryon Street, Charlotte.
