Charlotte, NC - This Saturday, Aug. 14, immunization clinic nurses from the Mecklenburg County Health Department will be at Eastland Mall 9 a.m. to 11a.m. for Big Shot Saturday. Eastland Mall is at 5471 Central Avenue.
Big Shot Saturday is a year-long effort targeting kids ages 2 months to 12 years to get their required childhood immunizations. The Saturday hours offer a convenient option for parents to get their children's shots without having to miss work, make an appointment or spend time in a crowded clinic waiting room.
North Carolina law requires kids to have up-to-date immunizations records in order to be enrolled in school. Through the Big Shot Saturday campaign, the Mecklenburg County Health Department is providing parents with an opportunity to update shot records or get a jump on the back-to-school rush for immunizations.
The next Big Shot Saturday opportunity is Aug. 21, 2004.
As always,
childhood immunizations are free through the Health Department. The only requirement is that parents bring their child's shot records. This will let the clinic nurses know what shots are needed.
If this Saturday is not convenient, walk-in patients are always welcome at the Health Department, but an appointment is recommended. Parents or guardians can call the Mecklenburg County Health Department's appointment line at 704-336-6500.
