NEW GENERAL MANAGER SET TO OVERSEE DSS, HEALTH AND OTHER KEY COUNTY SERVICES
Charlotte, NC-Mecklenburg County will have a new general manager on board beginning next month. Janice Allen Jackson has been hired by County Manager Harry L. Jones, Sr. for the position. She will begin work on February 2.
She will oversee the County’s Community Health & Safety focus area, as well as the Social, Education and Economic Opportunity focus area. This includes services provided several departments, including the Department of Social Services, Area Mental Health, Health Department, the Medical Examiner’s Office, and the Sheriff’s Office. She will also serve as Mecklenburg County’s liaison with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System and the EMS Agency (Medic).
She has been the city manager of Albany, Georgia since 1996. Jackson also served as assistant city manager in Albany from 1993-96, and was a program manager in Prince George’s County, Maryland. She has a BA from the College of William and Mary and a Masters in Public Policy and Management from Duke University.
