Charlotte - May 11, 2005 - Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Department will host a variety of special programs for teenagers this summer, and the time to sign-up is now.
Two of these programs are called "Teen's Exclusively Summer Experience." They run for six weeks each, from June 20 to July 29 at either of two locations: Latta Recreation Center, 500 E. Park Ave. and Enderly Recreation Center, 2921 Tuckaseegee Rd.
These programs are offered for teens, 13 -16, Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm. Participants will build skills in leadership, socialization and communications. Weekly themes such as "Knowledge Is Power," "Who Am I," "Hopes & Dreams," "Cultural Exposure," "Extreme Sports," will allow participation in a wide range of activities and trips. The cost is $65 per week.

The parks department will also sponsor "Camp Adventure," August 1 through August 12. This is a two week camp for teens 13-16 who desire a high level of outdoor challenges. Teens will participate in overnight camping, indoor rock climbing, high/low ropes, canoeing, whitewater rafting, horseback riding and other adventure base activities. Camp Adventure costs $135 per week. Space is limited.
