Sizzling Swim Sale at Mecklenburg County Pools

With Admission Price Cut to a Dollar (or Even Less)

Charlotte, NC -Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Department announces a "Sizzling Swim Sale" at its three outdoor swimming pools, just in time for the start of summer. The sale includes a new admission charge of only $1 for everybody, every day. Admission WAS adults $4, seniors $3, children 18 and under $2. This sale also includes a variety of free swimming opportunities plus buy-one-get-one-free admissions for many special events and activities. The Sizzling Swim Sale is effective immediately.

"We don’t want price to be a barrier to safe swimming, especially for kids this summer," says James Alsop, the parks department’s Branch Manager for Enterprise Services. "We want to maximize use of our outdoor pools with lifeguards. We want to do everything we can to reduce drownings. We want more people to learn how to swim. Supervised pools are the safest place to swim."

Specifically the Sizzling Swim Sale includes free and reduced price opportunities for the remainder of the summer swimming season. Admission is $1 everyday and for everybody except as follows:

Senior Sundays: All senior citizens (62 and older) admitted free, every Sunday with ID
USA Pride Day (July 4): buy-one-get-one-free admissions to those wearing red, white, and blue
Tuesday and Thursday Swim Lessons: Buy-one-get-one-free for anyone who can’t swim
Designated "Bring a Pal Days" (June 24, July 18, Aug 18): Buy-one-get-one-free admissions
Free snorkeling and kayak classes on designated days
Team Spirit Day (August 3): Wear a team logo and get buy-one-get-one-free-admission
Food Drive Day (September 2): Donate two canned food items to Metrolina Food Bank, get in free
Saturday Water Fitness Classes: Buy-one-get-one-free admissions (Cordelia Pool only)

The Sizzling Swim Sale is effective immediately at Mecklenburg County’s three outdoor pools:

Cordelia Pool, 2100 North Davidson Street
Double Oaks Pool, 2605 Double Oaks Road
Revolution Pool, 1201 Remount Road

Pool hours are weekdays: Noon - 6 p.m., Saturdays: 11 a.m. - 5 p.m., Sundays: 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. Last year 10,850 people paid admission to these pools.
