COMMISSIONER NORMAN MITCHELL APPOINTED TO NATIONAL COMMITTEE FOR URBAN COUNTIES
Charlotte, NC - Mecklenburg County Commissioner Norman A. Mitchell Sr. has been appointed to the Steering Committee of the National Association of Counties' Large Urban County Caucus.
The Large Urban County Caucus (LUCC) is a bipartisan coalition of elected county executives representing the nation's 100 largest urban counties. LUCC elected leaders represent about 130 million people, nearly one in every two Americans. LUCC's goal is to provide useful information to its 1,000 elected members as they search for solutions to the challenges facing the urban counties today.
"I am honored to have the opportunity to serve in this capacity," said Commissioner Mitchell. "As one of the nation's fastest growing metropolitan areas, it is extremely important that we explore issues related to urban growth here in Mecklenburg County and across the nation."
Mitchell, a Democrat representing District 2, is serving his fourth term on the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners.
