REACH 2010 - October Health Fairs
The Charlotte REACH 2010 project, based at the Mecklenburg County Health Department’s Fighting Back Program, will conduct community Health Fairs during the month of October in observance of Substance Abuse Awareness Month.

Charlotte, NC - The Charlotte REACH 2010 project, based at the Mecklenburg County Health Department’s Fighting Back Program, will conduct community Health Fairs during the month of October in observance of Substance Abuse Awareness Month. Lay Health Advisors will be on hand to advise and educate participants on the health risks associated with Diabetes and Cardiovascular disease.

Health Fair dates, times and locations are as follows:

October 8
10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Tarlton Hills Community Center, 201 Frazier Avenue

October 15
10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
New Emmanuel Congregational United C.O.C., 3546 Beatties Ford Road

October 15
10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Gethsemane AME Zion Church, 531 Campus Street

October 29
10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Clinton Chapel AME Zion Church, 1901 Rozzelles Ferry Road

REACH 2010, which stands for Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health, is a federal initiative was launched by the Centers for Disease Control to eliminate health disparities among persons of color. The program encourages communities to mobilize and organize resources, plan and develop effective, sustainable programs to eliminate leading disparities in health. The Charlotte REACH 2010 project seeks to prevent heart disease and diabetes among African-Americans in the Northwest Area of Charlotte, North Carolina.
