SCARY AS THE DICKENS: "THE MECKLENBURGERS" ARE BACK WITH A HOLIDAY SPECIAL
Charlotte, NC - "The Mecklenburgers" are back with the ghosts of past, present and future. It's a Dickens-esque holiday special featuring The Mecklenburgers and crew, airing Sunday, November 20 at 7:30 p.m. on WTVI.
As you get ready for the seasonal scramble and your inner Scrooge tries to escape, this holiday episode will make you look for Tiny Tim here in Mecklenburg County. The show emphasizes the giving spirit and helping the less fortunate as The Mecklenburgers own Mr. Scrooge, Brady, discovers after getting the "Dickens scared out of him."
The holiday special will air throughout the holiday season on Sundays at 7:30 p.m. and Fridays at 11 p.m. Classic episodes of The Mecklenburgers will air at those times until the new season begins in spring of 2006, with a host of new programs. New topics include the realities of mental health, senior citizens, homelessness, adoption and foster care, air quality, the jail, and substance abuse.
The Mecklenburgers is a 30-minute "info-comedy" about Mecklenburg County government. It features an ensemble cast including two of Charlotte’s most well-known personalities - former WSOC-TV news anchor Suzanne Stevens as Trish and WRFX radio commentator/curmudgeon-at-large, Robert D. Raiford as the crusty Brady.
The Mecklenburgers is a joint production of WTVI and Mecklenburg County government. Visit the show’s Web site at
