PARK AND RECREATION: DOT LAW APPOINTED EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT TO THE DIRECTOR

Charlotte, NC - Dot S. Law has been named Executive Assistant to the Director of the Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Department. As such, she becomes the second ranking official in the department with administrative oversight over all its branches and operations.

For the past 15 years, Law has served as the department’s manager in charge of accounting, information technology, and human resources - most recently with the title of Branch Manager for Administration and Business Services. Before coming to Mecklenburg County in 1991, she was the Business Manager for the Park and Recreation Department in Kinston, NC.

"Dot’s background in financial services, human resources, IT, and business demonstrates a strong organizational track record and promises she can be an agent of change in my office," said R. Wayne Weston, Director of the Park and Recreation Department. "I believe her experience and successful management style will help us achieve our strategic goals and make desirable improvements."

Law is a graduate of North Carolina Wesleyan University in Rock Mount with a degree in business administration. She is known in the parks department as a physical fitness enthusiast, who takes a vigorous workout before coming to the office most days. On weekends she and husband Steve, a property management coordinator in the County’s Real Estate Services Department, enjoy camping, biking and kayaking. She demonstrates a positive commitment to the mission of Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Department, "the natural place to be."
