Charlotte, NC - The Board of County Commissioners has received a status report on the new Third Ward Park and a proposal to consider land exchanges and other steps to locate a minor league baseball park in Charlotte's center city. The report detailed appraised values of land to be exchanged among Mecklenburg County, the City of Charlotte, Mass Mutual and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. In concept, the County would be responsible for building the park in Third Ward, the City would be responsible for baseball stadium infrastructure in Third Ward, and street, sidewalk and utility infrastructure in Second Ward. The report also presented conceptual park designs for the parks in Second and Third Wards. Next steps are to develop business terms and draft agreements among the parties.
