Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Department and the Arts and Science Council invite interested citizens to comment on artwork for the new Shuffletown Sportsplex Park . A community workshop will be held June 11 at 6:30 p.m. at the indoor shelter in Hornets Nest Park, 6301 Beatties Ford Road. Construction of the Shuffletown Sportsplex is scheduled to begin this September, on the site of the old Shuffletown Drag Strip off Belhaven B oulevard. The sportsplex will cover about 50 acres. Phase I will be paid for with $3 million in bond funds and will include two baseball fields with a soccer/football field in the outfields, a restroom building, parking and roads.
