Northern Mecklenburg County is one of the fastest growing sectors of the state. Mecklenburg County opened LUESA North in 2003 with services tailored to homeowners, builders and developers in that area. Since then, LUESA North has offered construction permitting and plan review, storm water services, residential technical answer center, housing code, and other services.
Mecklenburg County’s Land Use and Environmental Services Agency provides services aimed at contributing to the quality of life in Mecklenburg County. That is achieved by increasing collaboration between the environmental sector and the business community and encouraging them to work together to develop guidelines for air, water and land quality. LUESA has just more than 500 employees and a budget of $66.5 million.
