KEEP MECKLENBURG BEAUTIFUL: 2008 “The Great American Clean-Up”
CHARLOTTE, NC – Spring is the time of year when most of us can’t wait to get outside. So how about an outdoor activity that’s not only fun, but rewarding as well?
Beginning March 1, 2008 through the end of May, the Great American Clean Up is in operation, and we’d like to invite you to help us Keep Mecklenburg beautiful. Businesses, schools, churches, YMCAs, youth groups, neighborhoods and the general public are all invited to participate.
Keep Mecklenburg Beautiful can provide you with many resources, such as bags, to assist you with your cleanup and beautification projects. We simply ask that you provide us with the number of projects, volunteers and hours worked during March 1 through May 31. You may register online for the program and download the forms necessary to record your achievements and report back to Keep Mecklenburg Beautiful.
“We’ve achieved so much in such a short space of time, but as we have all witnessed by the litter on our roads, waterways and neighborhoods, we can do more,” says Jake Wilson, Keep Mecklenburg Beautiful Executive Director.
Keep Mecklenburg Beautiful is an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, Inc. Its primary focus is the County’s unincorporated areas and towns of Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville, Matthews, Mint Hill and Pineville. The organization conducts an annual litter index and works to engage the community to take greater responsibility for their environment.
