MECKLENBURG COUNTY NAMED TOP IN THE STATE FOR
MENTAL HEALTH, SUBSTANCE ABUSE AND
DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITY SERVICES
Charlotte, NC –The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse Services released a report today highlighting a comprehensive, independent evaluation conducted by Mercer Government Human Services Consulting which rated Local Management Entities (LME’s) conducted across the state on their overall performance in the following areas:
· Financial and Business Management Operations
· Information Technology and Claims Management
· Clinical Operations and Governance
Mecklenburg County Area Mental Health Authority rated in Tier One for all three areas, or top in the state. Under the direction of the DHHS, LME’s are responsible for managing mental health, substance abuse, and developmental disability services at the local level throughout the state. The performance level of LME’s has a direct impact on how easily and quickly citizens can access services and the quality and effectiveness of the services they receive.
Area Director, Grayce Crockett says, “These ratings are a testament to the commitment our community has to providing access to high quality mental health, substance abuse and developmental disability services. We’re proud of our overall performance, and pleased to see the state recognize our efforts in such a way.”
The Area Mental Health Authority is accredited by the National Council for Quality Assurance (NCQA) and provides access to mental health, substance abuse and developmental disability services in Mecklenburg County.
