The Mecklenburg County Veterans Service Office will co-host an event honoring veterans and their families on Thursday, May 8.

‘A Salute to Mecklenburg County Veterans’
Celebration at the Freedom Regional Library
 

Charlotte, NC – In partnership with the Mecklenburg County Community Support Services Veterans Service Office and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post #7775 Ladies Auxiliary, the Freedom Regional Branch of the Public Library, 1230 Alleghany Street, is hosting a celebratory event at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 8 to honor veterans and their families.  

The event will feature a musical performance and JROTC students from the Phillip O. Berry Academy of Technology to perform the presentation of the colors and to sing the National Anthem. Veterans in attendance will be public recognized and a candle lighting ceremony will honor those veterans who have passed. Fellowship and light refreshments will follow.

Mecklenburg County Community Support Services consists of four divisions: Homeless Support Services, Project Safe Neighborhoods, Veterans Service Office, and Women’s Commission. The department mission is to improve citizen self-sufficiency, health and safety through a wide array of quality services and community partnerships.
