Mecklenburg County officials recently honored Concepcion and five other County employees who have demonstrated their commitment to the customer service standards valued in the workplace.
Concepcion is a four-year employee of the County, whose service at DSS includes being an interpreter for clients who do not speak English. Peers who nominated Concepcion for the award praised her determination and her compassion. The recognition included a $600 award from The Employers Association, presented by Kenny Colbert, company president. Colbert said it’s the sixth year that the human resources consulting company has sponsored the award.
“Thank you so much,” Concepcion said in remarks after County Manager Harry L. Jones Sr. presented her with the award in front of a crowd of co-workers on Employee Appreciation Day. “Everybody here deserves it,” she said. “With the economy and the way that things are, everybody is doing their hundred percent, and I’m just another person like you doing the same thing for everyone that needs our help.”
