Charlotte, NC – Since 1996, the Mecklenburg County Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) Board has provided funding up to $25,000 to local organizations through their Alcohol Education Grant Program. Beginning April 1, 2010, applications will be accepted for funding up to $30,000.
North Carolina law mandates that seven percent (7%) of the profits generated by distilled spirits sales and collected by local ABC Boards be spent on alcohol or other drug prevention, education, treatment, or research. Most non-profit, tax-exempt (IRS 501 C-3) charitable organizations that provide these services to Mecklenburg County residents are eligible to apply for grants.
Organizations interested may attend a free workshop to learn more about the Alcohol Education Grant Program. The workshop will be held at 3333 North Tryon Street, Charlotte, NC 28206 on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at 2:00pm. Space is limited; please call 704-731-5866 to register.
