It’s that time of year again! As young people and their families make the mad dash to gather back-to-school supplies, community organizers want us all to remember needy families who are struggling due to the troubled economy and are unable to purchase backpacks, pencils, clothing and other items that help position a young person for academic success.
In order to honor and support youth and families in Mecklenburg County, MeckCARES has partnered with Starlight Skating Rink to encourage the community to participate in the 4th Annual MeckCARES Family FUN Day. The event will allow families to enjoy a day of fun and recreation while learning about valuable children’s mental health resources—all while providing back-to-school supplies and support for area families.
Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2010
5 - 8 p.m.
Starlight Skating Rink
8830 E. Harris Blvd
Admission is free for everyone who brings school supplies to donate. For each donation, youth and families will get free skate rentals, and will get to skate and enjoy a free snack.
Individuals and businesses are also encouraged to support local youth and families by sponsoring tickets for others to attend this special event.
