The Mecklenburg County Health Department will begin to offer Influenza Immunizations (Flu Shots) on Friday, September 9, 2011 by appointment only.
Flu shots will be offered by calling 704-336-6500 for an appointment.
Flu shots will cost $30 for residents 6-months of age and older, $40 for “high dose” flu shots for those 65 years of age and older to generate a stronger immunity against the flu, and $35 for Flu Mist for residents ages two to 49 years of age who have no medical problems and are not pregnant.
The Health Department is encouraging all eligible residents to get a flu shot this season, whether it is at a physician’s office, another provider such as a drug or grocery store, or at the Health Department.
People are reminded to get a flu shot early to prevent the flu, practice good hand hygiene by washing your hands frequently, coughing into your sleeve to prevent the spread of germs, and if you get sick stay home to avoid passing the flu onto others. For more information go to
