It's easy to use the holidays as an excuse to not care about what you eat and drink. The holidays are a time to have fun, enjoy friends and family, and get away from work.
But why make getting into shape harder for yourself on January 1? The Mecklenburg County Health Department offers several tips on eating healthy, staying active, and reducing holiday stress.

Additional fun and festive ideas for reducing those holiday pounds:  
  • Start your journey to a healthier, more fit you at one of Park and Recreation’s eight fitness centers. Each facility offers cardiovascular, weight resistance, and free weight equipment at a great value. Park and Rec’s enthusiastic fitness staff are available to help get you started and motivated.
  • Join the Eat Smart Move More Holiday Challenge to get free weekly e-Newsletters that will help you maintain your weight during the holidays. In this newsletter you will find healthy recipes, tips and information to help you successfully navigate the holiday season. You don't have to do it alone. Stay motivated and support one another. How you participate is up to you -- follow along with other participants just like you on the Holiday Challenge Blog or share your strategies on the Eat Smart Move More Facebook page.
