Find Yourself At GIS Day 2012
11/12/2012
Maps have come a long way since Rand McNally was folded in the glove box. Now computer-generated maps are used to guide medics in an emergency, help police officers determine crime trends and produce maps for flood assessment after hurricanes.

This technology is called GIS – or Geographic Information Systems. Mecklenburg County GIS, City of Charlotte GIS, CPCC, UNC-Charlotte, ESRI, Sanborn and Bradshaw Consulting invite employees and fans of geography to learn more about GIS technology at the annual GIS Day event.

Wednesday, November 14, 2012
8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Spirit Square, 345 North College Street, Uptown Charlotte
Free to the Public

EYEWITNESS News Meteorologist John Ahrens will address GIS Day attendees at 10 a.m. in the McGlohon Theater.

GIS Day highlights ways that GIS technology is used every day by government and local agencies to improve customer service, primarily through e-business applications and tools. More than 20 City/County/non-profit/private exhibitors will be on hand to demonstrate how GIS is used.
