6/12/2012
Five providers have acknowledged their intent to submit a formal proposal to conduct a review of the 2011 property revaluation.
UPDATE JUNE 13, 2012
County staff held a non-mandatory, pre-proposal conference on Wednesday, June 13 for providers that have already expressed their intent to submit a proposal for the review of the 2011 Mecklenburg County revaluation. In response to questions, staff clarified the RFP as follows:
-All information, videos of BOCC meetings and property owner letters will be made available to provider
-Assessor staff will be made available to the provider for the review
-County will provide notification to public of community meetings that are part of the review
-County will provide or assist in providing venues for community meetings
-Citizen involvement should take place before review and after recommendations are formulated
-Review includes both residential and commercial properties
-Board of Equalization and Review should be part of the provider's review

The five providers that have expressed intent to submit a proposal can submit additional written questions through June 18. Answers will be posted at www.ips.state.nc.us

All proposals must be submitted by June 25. The County Manager will make a provider recommendation to the Board of County Commissioners on June 3.

----------------------

The deadline has passed for potential providers to acknowledge their interest in conducting a review of the 2011 Property Revaluation.  The Board of County Commissioners approved the Request for Proposals (RFP) for the review at its June 5 meeting. June 11 was the deadline for interested parties to acknowledge their interest in and intent to submit a proposal for the review and five service providers submitted the proper paperwork. Formal proposals are due to the County by June 25. After that, staff will evaluate the proposals and the County Manager will recommend a provider to the Board at its July 3 meeting.

The Board asked for the review after some property owners questioned their new appraisal and the appeal process done by the Assessor’s Office and the Board of Equalization and Review.
