Gujjarlapudi comes to Mecklenburg County from Jacksonville, Florida where he served as Director of the Environmental and Compliance Department and also Division Chief of the Environmental Quality Division. He was recently recognized by the Jacksonville City Council for his exemplary leadership.
“We are pleased that Mr. Gujjarlapudi agreed to join our team. He will bring a depth of knowledge and experience that will be useful for LUESA and the community,” said General Manager Bobbie Shields.
Ebenezer Gujjarlapudi holds a Master’s Degree in Environmental Engineering from Texas A&M University as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
“I am excited about the opportunity and am looking forward to making a difference within the agency and the community,” Gujjarlapudi said.
Gujjarlapudi begins work with the county on January 9, 2013. His annual salary will be $145,000. He replaces Cary Saul, who will retire after more than thirty years with the County.
The LUESA Director is responsible for leading a very complex and diversified organization. This includes environmental health, solid waste, storm water services and the assessor’s office. The Director oversees the management of more than 450 employees with an annual operating budget of $63 million.
