Billing for these properties was intended to be held until the second billing later this fall.
In moving property information from one tax year database to the next, a multistep calculation is performed to establish the taxable value. The values for the affected properties were incomplete, but the properties were inadvertently included with the billable properties. Revised bills will be sent out with the second billing.
Property owners who note an increase of value on their bills for which they were not previously notified can get more information by calling 311 if inside the County or 704-336-7600 from outside the County.
Among the rest of the bills, some property owners may notice a small decrease in their real property values. Most of these properties had features such as garages, which decreased in value when the established schedules of values, standards and rules approved by the Board of County Commissioners in 2011 were applied. The property bills serve as their notices of value for the changes.
