Development Funds for Supportive Housing Available

The Citiy of Charlotte, Mecklenburg County and the Charlotte Housing Authority are now jointly accepting proposals from developers for Supportive Housing Developments.

Supportive Housing Developments comprise affordable housing with comprehensive supportive services, which include new construction, rehabilitation and acquisition/rehabilitation. The intent of the joint Request for Proposal is to provide a collaborative and streamlined application and review process among the City, County and Housing Authority.

The following funding is available for Supportive Housing Developments for the FY2012 program year:

  • City of Charlotte Housing Trust Fund Capital: $7.3 million
  • Charlotte Housing Authority Operational Section 9 Subsidy: up to 300 units of section 9 subsidy across all approved projects.
  • Charlotte Housing Authority Capital: Additional capital funds may be available through Housing Authority Moving to Work program.
  • Mecklenburg County Supportive Services Funding Partnership: A partnership for partial support services funding and/or social work staff will be available for the RFP. Specific partnership details will be determined at a later date.

RFP Pre-submission Conference
Interested applicants are encouraged to attend the Pre-Submission Conference on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012. Funders will discuss common priorities and provide information about the application process.
