The BER is a panel of citizens appointed by the
Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners that reviews assessments appealed by property owners. Appointments are made for three-year terms with no one serving more than two full consecutive terms.
To qualify for an appointment as a member, each nominee must have resided in Mecklenburg County for at least two consecutive years prior to the appointment, shall remain a resident for the duration of service as a member, shall be knowledgeable of real estate or personal property valuation matters, and shall not have been convicted of a felony.
Individuals interested in applying should fill out the
Advisory Board application by March 22. Nominations will be made at the April 2 BOCC meeting. For more information, contact
