The Mecklenburg County Board of Commissioners is accepting applications for appointments to the 
Cardinal Innovations Community Oversight Board. Nominations and/or appointments will occur on
May 7, 2014 and/or no later than May 20, 2014.

The Cardinal Innovations Community Oversight Board is a public entity and local political subdivision of the State of North Carolina. Cardinal Innovations is the exclusive Medicaid and State funded behavioral health vendor for
residents of Mecklenburg County, as well as, Alamance, Cabarrus, Caswell, Chatham, Davidson,
Franklin, Halifax, Granville, Orange, Person, Rowan, Stanly, Union, Vance and Warren Counties. The
governing unit of Cardinal Innovations is comprised of a single Governing Board and five Community
Oversight Boards, one for each local Community Operations Center.

The Community Oversight Boards ensure involvement of local stakeholders, promote local collaboration, and monitor services provided within established catchment areas in coordination with the Community Operations Centers. In addition to a Commissioner Representative and a representative from the Mecklenburg County Consumer and Family Advisory Committee (either the Chair or other elected member), Mecklenburg County has three appointments to the Mecklenburg Community Oversight Board: 

  • Two vacancies for a Cardinal Innovations consumer or a family member 
  • One vacancy for a community stakeholder

Interested individuals must be residents of Mecklenburg County. Number of Positions: 5 (3
available for applicant pool) Term: three-year term from date of appointment. No member may serve
