In an effort to engage and educate non-custodial parents about their rights and responsibilities regarding child support, Mecklenburg County Child Support Enforcement (MCCSE) is hosting a Non-Custodial Parent (NCP) Orientation.
The event is Thursday, April 10 at 5:30p.m. at 5800 Executive Center Dr., Suite 200, Charlotte, NC 28212.
The orientation, held as part of the MCCSE Responsible Fatherhood initiative, will focus on paternity establishment. During the orientation putative fathers will learn about the child support process, have a chance to ask questions, and if paternity has not been previously established, they’ll have the opportunity to participate in genetic testing.
By establishing paternity the child is able to receive the benefits that come from having two legal parents including emotional and financial support, Social Security benefits, medical history and inheritance rights, to name a few.
Other community partners and County departments, including the Department of Social Services and the Health Department, will be onsite to provide information about related services.
