The Mecklenburg County Fruit & Vegetable Coalition hosted its 4th Annual Can You Dig It, Charlotte Community Garden Tour on Saturday, May 3 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at four diverse community locations.  The Mecklenburg County Health Department is the coordinating agency for the Coalition and supports the community mission of increasing healthy food options for residents.


After the tour, the Mecklenburg County Fruit & Vegetable Coalition will host a Garden Gathering with lunch provided by Encore Catering. After lunch the garden tour participants are welcome to attend the Green Teacher Network workshop held at Garinger High School. For more information log on to www.


2014 Tour partners include: Mecklenburg County Health Department, Friendship Gardens, Charlotte Mecklenburg Food Policy Council, Bike Charlotte, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, Mecklenburg County Cooperative Extension, Mecklenburg County Park & Recreation, Oakhurst Community Garden, Little Sugar Creek Community Garden, 8th Street Community Garden, Encore Catering, Green Teacher Network, and Mecklenburg Fruit & Vegetable Coalition.
