Mecklenburg County Manager Dena Diorio has formalized two key positions in the Manager’s Office.
Diorio announced to the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners Wednesday night that Deputy Finance Officer Wanda Reeves is now the director of the Financial Services Department. She has also named Assistant County Manager Michelle Lancaster as director of the Consolidated Health and Human Services Agency.
Reeves started with the Mecklenburg County finance department in 1983 as a financial analyst. She was promoted to various finance-related positions during her career with Mecklenburg County, rising to the position of deputy director in 2011. She was most recently the interim Financial Services director.
As director of the Financial Services Department, Reeves will provide executive oversight for the department including Central Finance, Human Services Finance, and the Office of the Tax Collector.
Lancaster will serve as director of the Consolidated Health and Human Services Agency in conjunction with her position as assistant County manager. In her new role, she will provide executive oversight for the Consolidated Health and Human Services Agency, which includes the Department of Social Services, the Health Department, MeckLINK Behavioral Healthcare, Provided Services Organization, and Community Support Services.
Lancaster joined Mecklenburg County as staff assistant to the Board of County Commissioners in 1998. She has been promoted several times during her tenure and was named general manager in 2008.
Both appointments are effective immediately.
