Bryant has been serving in the role of interim OMB director since January, when he was appointed by County Manager Dena R. Diorio.
Bryant started with Mecklenburg County in 2003 as a management analyst. Over the past 11 years, he has earned the respect of County staff, department directors and the Board of County Commissioners.
“Michael continually demonstrates his understanding of budget principles and his skills are second to none,” said Diorio. “He brings energy and passion to the position and has many great ideas to improve how we develop and manage our budget process.”
Bryant holds a master of public administration (MPA) degree from North Carolina Central University. He currently serves on multiple boards and associations including the North Carolina Local Budget Association; Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA); National Forum for Black Public Administrators (NFBPA); UNC-Charlotte MPA Advisory Board; Arts and Science Council Board; and Public Executive Leadership Association Alumni.
Bryant takes over as OMB director effective immediately.
