County Manager Providing Options in Response to DHHS Secretary's Medicaid Program Decision
1/7/2013
New North Carolina DHHS Secretary Aldona Wos has told County Manager Harry L. Jones, Sr. that she will uphold last week's decision on who will manage the state's federal Medicaid program for Mecklenburg County's consumers.

That change was made by former acting Department of Health and Human Services Director Albert Delia on December 31st, his last day in office.

At the Board of County Commissioners’ workshop on Tuesday, January 8, Jones will report Wos’ decision and provide options for the Board to consider. The Board’s public policy workshop will be held Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at 3 p.m. in room 267 of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center, 600 East 4th Street in Charlotte.

Wos informed Jones of her decision during a conference call early Monday morning. Jones says he believes the actions of the former acting secretary were contrary to state law.

Delia announced December 31 that Cardinal Innovations Healthcare Solutions would be awarded the responsibility of managing federal Medicaid instead of Mecklenburg County’s MeckLink program.
