For the past 18 months, the Health Department has been transitioning from Carolinas Healthcare System (CHS) to direct County management. The goal for staff with Mecklenburg County and CHS has been to create a smooth transition with the public continuing to receive high-quality health services.
WIC services will be available at the Health Department location at 801 Clanton Road, Suite C-110 and at their new location at 5624 Executive Center Drive during both closures.
During the closure at 249 Billlingsley Road, services will be available via appointment at 2845 Beatties Ford Road. Walk-ins for STD/HIV testing will also be accepted.

“We have been working towards the goal of continuing to provide high-quality services to our clients in the community while switching to Mecklenburg County IT and other systems,” said Health Director Wynn Mabry, M.D. “The effort that our current and future County staff has shown to get the Health Department ready for service under County authority has been tremendous. I am confident that come July 1, our clients and the community will be very satisfied with the results.”
Close to five hundred staff members currently under Carolinas HealthCare System employment are transitioning and will become employees of Mecklenburg County.
