The Center for Digital Government (CDG) and the National Association of Counties (NACo) have announced the 2014 Digital Counties Survey winners and Mecklenburg County is seventh in the nation. The annual survey recognizes leading examples of counties using technology to improve services and boost efficiencies.
BSSA Director Brian Cox noted the County's emphasis on employee mobility as being a key reason for Mecklenburg being recognized. "This a testament to the hard work done by our IT teams," Cox said. “The integration of hardware, application development and cloud storage strategies is revolutionizing the way staff conducts business."
Cox added that having a strong governance and funding model separates Mecklenburg from the majority of cities and counties. "It all begins with the shared services approach and enterprise focus on budgeting," he said. "I call it simply 'smart funding.' The County Commission, manager, and executive team know wise technology investments are vital in providing quality government services."
