Elementary, middle and high schools throughout the County recently participated in an innovative program that rewards schools for thinking creatively about the subject of recycling. Registered teams are provided with everything they need to work with their students to design and then paint a recycling-themed landscape on their exterior recycling containers. Five outstanding schools have risen to the top and will be taking home their shares of the $12,500 bounty. Here's a video of the winners.
The scoring results from all of our judges were tallied and we're pleased to congratulate the following five schools for their winning entries:
First Place - Northeast Middle School - $5,000
Second Place - Piedmont Middle School - $3,000
Third Place - Hough High School - $2,000
Fourth Place - Matthews Elementary School - $1,500
Fifth Place - Highland Creek Elementary - $1,000
Coca Cola Bottling, Republic Services, ReCommunity, Sherwin Williams and Keep Mecklenburg Beautiful want to thank all the participants for their excellent, innovative entries in the 2014 Paint A Can contest.
