The Pizza Box Mystery Has Been Solved They’re Now Recyclable
3/20/2014

It is usually a mystery to most people as to why pizza boxes cannot be recycled.

With recent changes to preparation and packaging methods, pizza boxes now have less food residue than they have in the past.

The boxes are now accepted in residential curbside programs throughout Mecklenburg County, including programs operated by the City of Charlotte and the towns of Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville, Matthews, Mint Hill, and Pineville. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, Central Piedmont Community College and all County recycling drop-off centers will also accept pizza boxes.

As with all recyclables, it is still important to remove any food residue before placing them in the recycling cart.
