Another winter blast is upon us, bringing back sub-freezing temperatures to the area. The American Red Cross,  Mecklenburg County and Charlotte Mecklenburg Emergency Management have opened a Warming Center to make sure everyone can escape from the cold.

The Center opened Tuesday, Jan. 28 and will remain open, at least, until noon on Thursday, Jan. 30. The Station is located at 618 North College Street in the Mecklenburg County Homeless Resource Center.
“We are opening the Warming Station due to temperatures being forecasted in the upper teens and lower 20s,” said Wayne Broome, director of Charlotte Mecklenburg Emergency Management. “We want to make sure that anyone who needs a place to stay out of the cold, has the opportunity to keep warm.”
