Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Mecklenburg County
Sportsplex in Matthews

Harold Cogdell, chairman, Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners (BOCC); Jennifer Roberts, at-large BOCC member; James P. Taylor, mayor of Matthews; Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation and the Town of Matthews representatives.

This ceremony will mark the official groundbreaking of the Mecklenburg County Sportsplex in the town of Matthews. The facility will house 12 multi-use fields capable of hosting events such as soccer, lacrosse, baseball, and rugby as well as a championship stadium with seating up to 7,000 designed to compete for local and national tournaments. Click to view a rendering of the complex.
