Why:
Rick Bender will educate youth about the dangers of tobacco use. He is a real-life survivor of cancer of the mouth. He started using spit tobacco at age 12 and developed mouth cancer by age 26. He has been through four major surgeries to remove the cancer causing a loss of 1/3 of his tongue, 1/2 of his jaw, and limited use of his right arm. Rick travels the country educating young people and others about the dangers of smokeless tobacco products, which are mistakenly thought of as safe alternatives to smoking.
