What:
The Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) has set a public hearing to discuss a new way to fund fire protection services throughout the unincorporated areas of the County.
When:
Tues., April 3, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. during the regular BOCC meeting
Where:
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center, 600 East 4th Street
Who:
BOCC; Director of Code Enforcement James N. Bartl
Why:
The Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) has set this public hearing to discuss a new way to fund fire protection services throughout the unincorporated areas of the region. As urban growth in the County continues and volunteer fire department expenses rise, independent studies have suggested that the current funding method – directly from the County’s general fund – won’t be enough to cover future costs.
