State Urges Residents To Protect Themselves From the Flu

Although North Carolina is above the national average for flu vaccine coverage, less than half of all North Carolinians got their vaccines last flu season. Your Mecklenburg County Health Department is ready and is now accepting appointments and walk-ins for flu shots.

Board of Elections Announces Early Voting Dates and Locations

Early voting will kick-off on Thursday, Oct. 18 at the Hal Marshall Annex and 21 other locat​ions throughout the County. Early voting will conclude on Saturday, Nov. 3.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

October is nationally known as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Communities across the country will hold events to honor the memory of those who lost their lives at the hands of their abusers. It is also a time to celebrate all survivors of intimate partner violence. Here are some local events that you can participate in.
 
Operation College Launch

One of Charlotte Mecklenburg Library's most important functions is to encourage the academic success of students. Many juniors and seniors are thinking seriously about college and have questions about how to prepare for entrance exams and maybe even how to pay for college. RECOVERY! Alumni Celebrate Milestones in Sobriety

The Mecklenburg County Provided Services Organization held its 1st Annual Alumni RECOVERY Celebration on Sept. 28, 2012 at the Substance Abuse Services Center on Billingsley Road. About 75 people, all graduates of one of the County's Substance Abuse Programs, attended. The Alumni RECOVERY Celebration was a part of National Recovery Month, which is held every September. Mecklenburg County's Organic Waste Reduction program offers workshops that teach the benefits of recycling and waste reduction.

Registration is Now Open for Park and Rec Youth Basketball

Registration is now open for Park and Rec's youth basketball leagues. The deadline is Oct 15 for Girls' leagues and Oct 31 for Coed. More information available here.
