Charlotte, NC-- People looking for free and inexpensive things to do for fun and fitness, especially in a tough economy, should look for Get Going Guide! The guide lists hundreds of activities, programs, and facilities offered by Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Department.
Park and Recreation will distribute 110,000 copies of the
spring/summer Get Going Guide during mid-February. About 66,000 will be given to students in Charlotte-Mecklenburg elementary schools. Others will be available at recreation centers, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center, library branches, Park and Recreation's administrative offices, and in news boxes around the city. Many individuals and families in Mecklenburg County rely on Get Going Guide to help them get the broadest use of parks, recreation centers, nature centers, aquatic facilities, greenways, nature preserves, and the many other facilities and services offered by Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation. The department is supported by both tax dollars and user fees, and part of the cost of Get Going Guide is paid for by private advertising.
Park and Recreation urges citizens to look for Get Going Guide in mid-February, keep a copy at home on the coffee table to consult for things to do in the warm weather season. Or, visit the
