Park And Rec School Sites Will Caravan To NC Zoo In Asheboro

Charlotte, NC – Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Department sponsors a "van caravan" to the North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro on November 11, 2009 from three School Recreation Sites. The trip is for youth, ages 6-11 and 12-15 with age-appropriate activities for each group.

Participants will experience animal encounters through the Endangered Species Carousel and/or the Wild Earth Africa 4-D Experience. To register for the caravan, visit www.parkandrec.com, click on Eparks, and use Course Codes listed below, or call 311.

The caravan to Asheboro will form after vans depart at 9am from:
  • Winget School Recreation Site: 12235 Winget Road, Course Codes #5418 (ages 6-11) or #5420 (ages 12-15). For more information contact: Cara.Helfer@mecklenburgcountync.gov  or 704 504-5433.
  • Shamrock Gardens School Recreation Site: 3301 Country Club Rd., Course Code #5473 (ages 6-11 only). For more information contact: Derrick.Montgomery@mecklenburgcountync.gov or 704 432-1502.
  • Martin Luther King School Recreation Site: 500 Bilmark Ave., Course Barcode 5419 (ages 6-11 only). For more information contact: Alvis.James@mecklenburgcountync.gov or 704 432-2942.

The trip costs $15 for ages 6-11, $18 for ages12-15 and includes admission, the carousel and/or the 4-D Experience. Youngsters should bring nonperishable lunch or extra money to buy lunch. Vans return to the School Recreation Sites at about 5pm.
