Charlotte, NC— Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Department offers a wide variety of events and activities for Halloween and autumn. There are events for all members of the family and for all ages. Join Park and Rec for safe, family events this spooky season:
  • Pumpkin Carve at Tom Sykes Recreation Center, 1501 Euclid Ave. Sun., Oct. 25, 2pm-3pm. Carve a jack-o-lantern to take home and set on your porch for Halloween. Pumpkins and supplies included. For all ages, $5.
  • Pumpkin Decorating at Shamrock Gardens Recreation Site, 3301 Country Club Rd. Tue., Oct. 27, 6pm–8pm. Youth will have fun carving and painting pumpkins for Halloween decorations. Ages 6-12, $1.
  • Halloween Arts and Crafts at Arbor Glen Outreach Center, 1520 Clanton Rd. Thu., Oct. 29, 5pm-6pm. Children will enjoy making arts and crafts projects for Halloween. For ages 4-10, FREE.
  • MLK's Halloween Party at Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation Site, 500 Bilmark Ave. Thu., Oct. 29, 6pm–8pm Wear your favorite scary or funny costume and celebrate Halloween with music, games and more! For all ages, $1.
  • Halloween Crafts and Candy at Shamrock Gardens Recreation Site, 3301 Country Club Rd. Fri., Oct. 30, 6pm-8pm. Decorate pumpkins to be funny, scary or glamorous and participate in a scavenger hunt with candy prizes. Ages 4-12, $1.
  • Halloween Ghosts, Goblins and Ghouls at First Ward Recreation Center, 610 East 7th St. Fri., Oct. 30, 6pm-7pm. Make scary masks for our goblins and monsters or crowns for our princes and princesses. Ages 4-12, $2.
  • Autumn Carnival at West Charlotte Recreation Center, 2401 Kendall Dr. Fri., Oct. 30, 6pm–8pm. Enjoy a variety of games and activities plus a costume contest and music. Ages 4-15, $2.
  • Mystery Lane at Hickory Grove Recreation Center, 6709 Pence Rd. Thu., Oct. 29 and Fri., Oct. 30, 6pm-8pm. Walk through the haunted mystery lane and get spooked by creatures. Ages 4 and up, $1.
  • The Haunted Creek at Mallard Creek Recreation Center, 2530 Johnston-Oehler Rd. Fri., Oct. 30, 6pm-9pm. Once it's dark, venture into the Haunted Creek to look for ghosts and goblins. Wear your costumes for a parade and contest. Ages 2 and up, $3.
  • Fall Festival at Naomi Drenan Recreation Center, 750 Beal St. Fri., Oct. 30, 6pm-9pm. Celebrate the arrival of autumn with contests, prizes, games and a special guest. All ages, $2.
  • Haunted Forest at 521 Recreation Center, 11401 Ardrey Kell Rd. Fri., Oct. 30, 6pm-10pm. See spooky ghosts and goblins at the Haunted Forest. Vendors and activities for children. All ages, $1.
  • Halloween Carnival at Amay James Recreation Center, 2425 Lester St. Fri., Oct. 29, 6pm-8pm. Enjoy games, treats and, costume contest, face painting and more. Ages 5 and up, FREE.
  • Ghouls and Ghoulies at Winget Recreation Site, 12235 Winget Rd. Fri., Oct. 30, 6pm-8pm. Come in your costumes for this Halloween event which includes art and crafts, costume contest and special games. Ages 1-12, $2.
  • Fall Festival at Albemarle Road Recreation Center, 5027 North Idlewild Rd. Fri., Oct. 30, 6pm-8pm. Join us as we participate in family fun, food, music and an outdoor movie. All ages, FREE.
  • Creepy Crawly Critter Celebration! at Reedy Creek Nature Center, 2900 Rocky River Rd. Fri., Oct. 30, 7pm-10pm. Celebrate all that's creepy and crawly on Halloween Eve! See for yourself how these creatures play an important role in our environment. Live animals, costume contest, marshmallow roast, and trick or treating. All ages, FREE.
  • Boo Bash at Bette Rae Thomas Recreation Center, 2921 Tuckaseegee Rd. Fri., Oct. 30, 6pm-8pm. Join our fall celebration for family fun with food, games, prizes, entertainment and more. All ages, FREE.
  • Halloween Carnival and Haunted Tours at Ray's Splash Planet, 215 North Sycamore St. Fri., Oct. 30, 6:30pm-9pm. A howling good time for the entire family. Haunted Tour through the Splash Park and Carnival in the gym with games, contests and trick-or-treating. Costumes encouraged, $2 per person for carnival/$3 per person for each tour. Age 2 and under for free.
  • Trip to Campground Massacre Haunted House in Ft. Mill from Southview Recreation Center, 1720 Vilma St. Sat., Oct. 31, 6pm–11:30pm. Scary adventure for teens in spooky surroundings. Ages 13-17, $20. Preregister by Oct. 28. Call Olema Edwards at Southview: 704 392-7452.
  • Magic Show at Greenville Recreation Center, 1330 Spring St. Fri., Nov. 6, 6pm-8pm. Showcasing "The Black Houdini," this magic show is sure to excite and surprise you. You will also enjoy snow cones, cotton candy and music. All ages, FREE.
