Charlotte, NC—Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Department is now taking registrations for “Spring Leisure and Learn,” a special series of fun and informative activities for senior citizens on Tuesdays, May 11, 18, and 25, 10:30am-2pm at Albemarle Road Recreation Center, 5027 North Idlewild Rd. This series is offered for active adults, ages 55 and better who are retirees, empty nesters and/or boomers!

Charlotte Mayor Anthony Foxx and Maryanne Daly of the Better Business Bureau Consumer Foundation will be special keynote speakers. Also included are sessions on:
  • Wood carving for beginners
  • Beginners line dancing
  • Ask the pharmacist
  • A bridge social
  • Live chef cooking demonstrations
  • Technology 101 presented by the Geek Squad (how to choose the best cell phone,
  • computer and digital television for you)

Cost for the whole series is $12, including morning coffee and refreshments, lunch each day, blood pressure checks, and door prizes.
