Spring Service At Our Children's Memorial Walkway April 23

Charlotte, NC-- Our Children's Memorial Walkway invites anyone grieving loss of a loved one to come to a special spring memorial service April 24, 2010 at 2 PM at Our Children's Memorial Walkway and Garden in Frazier Park, 1201 West 4th Street. Families who have lost a loved one of any age are invited to bring a lawn chair and attend.

Larry Dawalt, Director of Spiritual & Grief Care with Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region , will be the primary speaker. His topic is "Grieving Hearts, Young and Old" On how we grieve at different stages of Life regardless of how long it has been since the loss.

Our Children’s Memorial Walkway has more than 1200 engraved bricks memorializing children of all ages including adults like soldiers who have died in the line of duty and families who have missing loved ones like the Kristen Foundation and Mothers of Murdered Offspring, plus a beautiful garden with plants, flowers and statues of playing children. Families from 15 other states, Canada and England also have engraved bricks in the Walkway Someone does not need to have an engraved brick in order to attend. This Walkway and garden are a place to come and remember loved one in a positive setting. . A Place OF Life.

Our Children’s Memorial Walkway presents four general services a year, one in spring, one in fall and one on 9-11and one on National Veterans Day. . The Walkway and garden are on property of Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Department. The Walkway was created in 2001 through a partnership among the parks department and several grief groups. Anyone may purchase an engraved brick to memorialize a departed loved one. The engraved bricks sell for $50-$100. You do not have to have an engraved brick to attend the service.

Our Children’s Memorial Walkway is a 501(c)(3) corporation and is now accepting donations for the upkeep of the garden.
