Mecklenburg County Cooperative Extension is taking orders for various berry plants and fig trees. The deadline to order is Oct. 28., and all plants are $8. Proceeds directly support Mecklenburg Cooperative Extension and 4-H programming.


Charlotte, NC- Fall is here! There is no better time to update your yards and gardens with plants from Mecklenburg County Cooperative Extension than now. Cooperative Extension is taking orders for various berry plants and fig trees. The deadline to order is Oct. 28., and all plants are $8. Proceeds directly support Mecklenburg Cooperative Extension and 4-H programming.

The selection includes:

  • Blueberries: Climax, Premier, and Brightwell
  • Blackberries: Apache and Arapaho
  • Muscadines: Cowart and Triumph
  • Raspberries: Nova
  • Fig Trees: Brown Turkey and Celeste
Plants may be ordered by calling the Cooperative Extension office weekdays 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. at 704-336-2082. You may also order online at http://mecklenburg.ces.ncsu.edu.

You will receive a confirmation of your order in the mail. Plants will be available for pick up Nov. 3 and 4 at the Cooperative Extension / 4-H Office, 1418 Armory Drive.

Note: Blueberry bushes must be planted with other varieties in order to produce fruit. Blackberry plants are thornless, erect growing varieties and do not need a trellis. Muscadine vines and raspberry plants are self-fertile varieties and need a trellis.
