Park and Recreation Remembers Bette Rae Thomas
Bette Rae Thomas, namesake of the Bette Rae Thomas Recreation Center, passed away on Monday, Oct. 24. She was 82.
Memorial Stadium, Grady Cole Center Planners Set Community Meeting
Park and Rec will host a community meeting to provide information and solicit feedback for the American Legion Memorial Stadium and the Grady Cole Center site master plan. The meeting is Nov. 17 at 6:30 p.m. at the Grady Cole Center.
Cooperative Extension Accepting Orders for Plants, Trees
Mecklenburg County Cooperative Extension is taking orders for various berry plants and fig trees. The deadline to order is Oct. 28., and all plants are $8. Proceeds directly support Mecklenburg Cooperative Extension and 4-H programming.
First Annual MeckTeens Health Explosion Set for Oct. 22
Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation will host the 1st annual MeckTeens Health Explosion for youth, ages 11-17, on Saturday, Oct. 22. The event will take place from 11 a.m - 2 p.m. at West Charlotte Recreation Center.
National Food Day Celebration to Highlight Importance of Sustainable Food
Mecklenburg County Cooperative Extension, a division of Park and Recreation, will partner with Sow Much Good Inc. to host the first annual National Food Day Celebration on Oct. 22 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Bette Rae Thomas Rec Center.
Seniorfest and Leisure and Learn Highlight Senior Programs in October
The Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Department offers two great programs for senior adults ages 50 and up during the month of October. Programs include the popular Leisure and Learn series and Seniorfest, a health and wellness festival.
