Charlotte, NC- Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Department will host the 2012 State Golden Gloves Open and Novice Boxing Championships at Sugaw Creek Recreation Center on Friday, March 9 and Saturday, March 10. The tournament will feature both male and female boxers from across North Carolina who are registered with USA Boxing. Admission is $5 for ages 12 and under, $10 for ages 13 and up.

Schedule of events:

Friday March 9 

• Weigh-ins: 10 a.m. – noon Brookwood Inn, 1200 W. Sugar Creek Road
• Physicals: 5:45 p.m. – 6 p.m. Brookwood Inn 
• Bouts begin: 7 p.m. Sugaw Creek Rec

Saturday March 10 

• Weigh-ins: 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Brookwood Inn 
• Physicals: 3 p.m. – 3:45 p.m. Brookwood Inn 
• Bouts begin: 4 p.m. Sugaw Creek Rec Center
